The "Last Lecture."

We all know how lectures at University can sometimes be painfully boring. Some of us may also be guilty of skipping our lectures. I don’t know if you guys have heard of the “Last Lecture” given by a dying professor which has caused quite a stir over the internet in recent months. It is certainly one lecture that you wouldn’t want to skip.

Just a short introdution, Dr Randy Pausch is a married father of three, a very popular professor at Carnegie Mellon University—and he is dying. He is suffering from pancreatic cancer, which he says has returned after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Doctors say he has only a few months to live.

In September 2007, Randy gave a final lecture to his students at Carnegie Mellon that has since been downloaded more than a million times on the Internet. The topic was on "Achieving childhood dreams—and living your life" and many people have sinced benefited from that lecture.

On October 22, 2007, Pausch appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show where he discussed his situation and recapped his "Last Lecture" for millions of TV viewers.

Go ahead and view the lecture below. It only takes 10mins of your time...

"Bling back the retro" ~ Mambo Night 01, 2008

Mambo Night Semester 1, 2008 boasts a radical shift from previous Mambos. For the first time, the entertainment line-up will be exclusively choreographed by up and coming entertainment group "Audacious Vibes".

Entertainment line-up for the Night includes:

-DJ DON MIGI

The Don Migi is not only a prominent figure in the R&B scene but he is also a key player in the Latino scene where he is recognized as one of the top 5 Latino Djs in Australia.

To add to this, The Don is now taking his style to the masses thru the power of radio with 2 unique shows. The Don alongside the S-man, bring one of the best live party rocking sets "Blok Party" every Saturday night on Groove 101.7fm from 9pm till midnight, playing the latest sounds in R&B/HipHop/Dancehall/Reggaeton. Also every Monday you can catch The Don hosting the "Latin Mixmasters" show also on Groove 101.7fm from 10pm till midnight, which especialises in bringing the new sound of Reggaeton & Latin HipHop to Perth Australia, also being the only Reggaeton Radio of its kind in Australia. Both shows are here to stay and expect to hear more exciting developments as The Don perfects his Djing on Radio.

The Don has also played at international events such as Ministry of sound & Western Australia's Global Festival. International acts that The Don has played alongside include,Ying Yang Twins, Savage, Donell Jones, Boyz II Men, Next, Sean Paul, Cypress Hill, RZA, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Kelis, KC & JoJo, Montell Jordan, Dj Jazzy Jeff, Dj Rectangle, Dj Maseo, Dj C-Lo, Kenny Dope, Fred Wreck, Shade Shiest, and Dj Vice. He has been producing beats for about 10 years and has worked behind the scene on various songs and albums that have been heard and distributed over the net and also heard on west coast radio. He is currently recording and producing for female soul singer, JERRIE. Rough soul is a perfectionist and won’t settle for a half hearted product, but continually seeks to perfect his sound and strives it to be as original
as can be.

-DJ Junior

Junior is the current WA DMC Champion, and is the first and only West Australian DJ to have 3 state DMC titles under his belt. Adding to his numerous achievements, Junior recently became WA’s first and only Scribble Jam DJ Champion, a title held by only the very best. He was also one of the semi-finalists at the Australian Scribble Jam Nationals.
The past few years have seen Junior play an active role in Perth’s DJ scene, and participate in numerous Turtablist Competitions. In 2003, Junior became the first DJ to tour across Australia and New Zealand for the entire Autosalon Automotive Show series (www.Autosalon.org). Most recently, Junior played at the Future Music Festival on 2 March, 2008 in Perth, playing alongside the likes of Chemical Brothers, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed and heaps of other international acts.

-TRU-IN-DEED (MASTER-OF-CEREMONY)

It doesn’t matter where you live, what your background is or what type of music you choose to listen to, there is no denying that Tru-In-Deed’s debut effort is a musical milestone attracting widespread attention from a diverse range of people. As an artist, break-dancer/choreographer, and seasoned communicator, Tru is the most apt musical demonstration of what happens when you fuse the raw and sporadic elements of his African roots with mainstream contemporary urban culture.

Tru’s music has been described as a perfect blend of in-depth and insightful lyrics accompanied by uniquely infectious beats and a versatility of flow ranging from tongue-twisting, hard-hitting word plays to smooth and conscious emotive rhymes. His electrifying stage performances and ability to captivate audiences has allowed him to showcase his talents in front of thousands (the most recent being the Opening Act for the Impact World Tour in Australia).

With a relevant and positive message incorporated into urban hip hop aesthetic, it is appropriate that an artist like Tru-In-Deed enters the entertainment marketplace in a time when this generation is in need of an Advocate of The Truth

-FIRE 'N' MOTION (DANCERS)

Let the enthusiastic and energetic troupe “Fire 'N' Motion” entertain you with daring feats of fire. Performances incorporate a variety of fire equipment. Whether it’s high energy, nightclub fire-dancing, enhancing the ambience of any gathering, or using earthy primal beats, classical and everything in between, be enthralled by their amazing show.
